Boxing Glove Sizing Guide (Buyer & Wholesale)
Procurement leads asking us "what sizes should I stock" — this is the answer. We've built this for clubs, gyms, schools, and retailers buying at wholesale.
1. Measure hand circumference
Wrap a measuring tape around the dominant hand at its widest point, excluding the thumb. Record in inches. This baseline rules out fit complaints that drive return rates up.
2. Map weight to ounce rating
| Body weight (lb) | Recommended (oz) |
|---|---|
| Under 100 | 8 oz |
| 100 – 125 | 10 oz |
| 125 – 150 | 12 oz |
| 150 – 175 | 14 oz |
| 175+ | 16 oz |
3. Adjust for use case
- Sparring: +2 oz over competition weight. Protects partners.
- Bag work: –2 oz of competition. Lighter for endurance.
- Competition: Match the regulator — most amateur sanctioning bodies want 10 oz or 12 oz.
4. Build the SKU spread
A balanced retail SKU range carries 8 oz, 10 oz, 12 oz, 14 oz, and 16 oz. A club program typically buys 14 oz and 16 oz only — they cover sparring and pad work. A gym needs the full spread because they sell to mixed body weights.
